DeepNines Security Labs

The latest on Network Security

The DeepNines Security Lab provides critical information on security threats, gaps and risks with the internet. By investigating virus, malware and other threat sources, Security Labs engineers maintain up to date security for DeepNines technology, such as for the DeepNines IPS Firewall and Malware Firewall. Additionally to this standard operating procedure of threat analysis and signature updating, the Security Labs team uses the unique and proprietary Internet Security Assessment (ISA) for analysis of real-world internet traffic examination into bandwidth consumption, acceptable use policies, content filtering, and threats discovered with actual networks.

Malware FYI

Malware or scumware, is malicious software designed to infiltrate a computer without the owner's informed consent. The expression is used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code. "Computer virus" is sometimes used as a catch-all phrase to include all types of malware, including true viruses.

Because malware has so many different manifestations, it is considered malware based on the perceived intent of the creator rather than any particular features. Malware includes computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, most rootkits, spyware, dishonest adware, crimeware and other malicious and unwanted software. In law, malware is sometimes known as a computer contaminant, for instance in the legal codes of several U. S. states.
