New Cisco Offering Validates DeepNines' Infection Free Networking

DeepNines offers complete network protection in a single appliance

DALLAS, TEXAS - DeepNines Technologies, a network security systems provider, had its Infection Free NetworkingT (IFN) architecture and strategy validated this week by the release of Cisco's ICS software. DeepNines was the first unified threat management device to sit in front of the network and provide agentless end-point security, and is still the only solution that can deliver this today.

"It's a great validation to have a well-known vendor like Cisco attempting to build a solution we've been delivering for years," said Dan Jackson, president and COO of DeepNines. "DeepNines is focused on security. While Cisco's new solution is a step towards IFN and a complete security architecture, it is still very fragmented and lacks some of the essential and proprietary security technology found in IFN."

DeepNines' IFN differs from similar offerings because it is an integrated appliance that sits at the edge of the network, stopping all malicious traffic including viruses. DeepNines leverages a Multi-Method Inspection (MMI) process that includes firewall, intrusion prevention, anti-virus, anti-phishing, anti-spyware and anti-spam at the edge. IFN secures the router and other network devices from Denial of Service (DOS) attacks, worms, viruses, blended threats and other malicious attacks commonly targeted at the vulnerable Cisco IOS systems. DeepNines utilizes a purpose-built appliance from Sun Microsystems and is not dependant on a Microsoft server that is vulnerable to attacks.

DeepNines IFN architecture works with any infrastructure, including Cisco, Alcatel, Nortel, Lucent and Juniper. While other technologies only control malicious behavior at the port level, IFN controls it based on the MAC address of the offending user, preventing that user from accessing the network from any switch or port. IFN also performs a vulnerability scan on the identified host in order to provide an audit trail that shows the administrator why that host was blocked or quarantined by the solution.

DeepNines IFN ensures constant network uptime and availability by blocking or limiting traffic only on hosts that are propagating malicious traffic, as opposed to blanket host-based policies that shut down entire ports and/or protocols, which could punish various "good" users by limiting legitimate access to the network.

Infection Free Networking is currently available, with pricing upon request.
