Cisco Operating System Code Theft Further Validates DeepNines Security Platform Position

Companies without protection in front of their Cisco routers are vulnerable

DALLAS, TEXAS - The recent theft of a significant portion of the Cisco Systems Internetwork Operating System (IOS) code has touched off a firestorm of doubt and concern among the countless companies whose networks operate on Cisco hardware. Many of these companies are now put in a highly sensitive situation. They fear that the availability of the Cisco code could expose vulnerabilities in their networks and open backdoors for hackers to launch a devastating attack in the near future. DeepNines Technologies, the only security software company that provides in-front-of-the-router protection, has developed an integrated security platform that prevents such vulnerabilities from being exploited and renders threats impotent.

"With this recent theft of code, Cisco is well on its way to becoming the kind of hacker target Microsoft is," said DeepNines President and COO Dan Jackson. "From a market-share standpoint, Cisco and Microsoft aren't all that different, which makes this latest event so potentially disastrous for everyone who owns a Cisco router - thousands of networks could be crippled if that code gets into the wrong hands. There's really only one way to protect those networks, and that's to put security in front of the router, which is exactly where our technology sits."

The DeepNines Security Platform offers integrated firewall functionality, intrusion prevention, best-in-class gateway anti-virus scanning functionality, forensic capture and reporting.

"Many IT managers have a false sense of security because they've protected themselves internally," said igxglobal Founder and Chief Technology and Information Security Officer Babak Pasdar. "What they don't realize is that the edge of the router is the most exposed part of the network. They haven't protected it because to date they've had no solution to protect it. This speaks loudly to DeepNines' Security message as perimeter defense solution. Transparent protection of the whole network including the edge router is critical moving forward."
